Food and Drink Suppliers

We are spoilt with the great quality food in North Devon. We source our beef from Laytown Farm on Exmoor where the famous Devon Red Ruby and Aberdeen Angus cattle are hand reared on lush green pastures providing an exceptional quality and flavour.

Our pork, chicken and duck are supplied by Lane End Farm in North Devon renowned for the excellent welfare standards maintained for the animals and where the free range poultry are allowed to mature naturally ensuring the best quality product. Gloucester Old Spots and Large Whites have been bred specifically for their fat content ensuring the pork is succulent and fresh.

The West Country Lamb mark is a sign of the highest quality and we use small farms in the surrounding area to supply our great tasting lamb dishes.

For our ciders we use Winkeigh Cider, stocking 3 brands – Sam’s Poundhouse, a sparkling draught cider, Sam’s Medium (6%) and Sam’s Autumn Scrumpy (7.5%).  We tend to stock ales from St Austell Brewery alongside local ales like Hanlows Yellow Hammer, a local brewery in Half Moon, Devon.


Devon and Cornwall Prime Beef

This farm by Withiel Folly on Exmoor is certified to meet Farm Assured Beef standards, guaranteeing the very best farming practices and welfare. The meat is matured for 28 days to enhance the succulence and flavour. This high quality product is sought after by some of the best chefs in the country and available to only a few approved kitchens The Fox and Hounds is a certified user of Exmoor Beef, Lamb and Pork


Cobley Farm - Eggs and Dairy

A family-owned producer of free range hens eggs based in Down St Mary in Mid-Devon. Founded in 1987 just 5 miles from Eggesford at Lapford the farm now has 6,000 birds which produce approx. £10,000 worth of eggs a month.


Quickes Cheeses - Newton St Cyres, Crediton (located on the A377)

At Quickes Traditional they have been making cheese using milk from their own dairy herd for 450 years. Every truckle is handmade by one of nine skilled cheese makers before being wrapped in muslin and carefully matured for anything up to 24 months. The Quickes Mature Cheddar is renowned and won the bronze in the 2008 World Cheese Awards!


S&J Fisheries - Cornwall

These top quality fish suppliers operate boats out of Plymouth and the North Devon Coast daily and we ensure that as much of our ingredients as possible comes from sustainable sources.
